Uzongithola ngiblom’emlanjeni - Meet you at the river

I have to post this up… my number one hit for the week and it just happens that I already had it among a gift pack of CDs that I had not looked through.   The song is beautiful!  And I found the translation.. or at least what one claims is the translation and it makes it even more worth it.

By the way for those (like myself) who do not speak the language but can only recognise the english parts ‘”Meet you at the river”, the song is called Emlanjeni (which I am guessing means river) and is by Mafikizolo. And you can find lyrics on this website.

Translation:

Yadhlula iminyaka “ngakuboni
Years go by and I don’t get to see you

Yadhlula iminyaka “ngakuboni isoka lam”
Years go by and I don’t get to see you my darling

Uzo”nthola nkona emlanjeni
I will meet you at the river

Uzo”nthola nkona emlanjeni sithandwa? sam”
I will meet you at the river my darling

Oh manje !sithandwa sam” mina nzokuthola kuphi x2
Oh my darling where will I find/meet you
